Home office planning for Copenhagen apartments

Board note · Design lane Floor-to-ceiling modules for archives, printers, and sample stock. Specification sheets ship with the €980 room package or €2,850 apartment plan.

Ceiling height modules at 240 cm

Standard Copenhagen rooms measure 250–270 cm floor to ceiling. We design 240 cm tall units with a 10 cm gap for crown moulding and ventilation — critical in older Vesterbro flats where heat rises into top shelves.

Upper compartments hold rarely used archives; daily files sit at shoulder height between 120 and 160 cm from the floor.

Printer bays with ventilation gaps

Closed cabinets overheat laser printers during long print runs. We specify louvered doors or 30 mm rear gaps tied into the cable routing plan so exhaust air does not recirculate into the seat zone.

Pull-out shelves let you refil toner without lifting the machine onto the desk.

Freestanding versus wall-anchored units

Renters prefer freestanding libraries strapped to the wall with anti-tip kits that use tension rods against the ceiling — no screw holes in plaster. Owners sometimes choose fully built-in joinery that follows the sloped ceiling of top-floor Nørrebro units.

We note weight per linear metre so floor load stays within joist limits in 1880s timber structures.

Integrated desk returns

L-shaped desk returns built into the storage wall eliminate leg clearance fights with drawer packs. Knee void width stays at 80 cm minimum with drawer banks shifted to the side return.

Cable grommets align with the routing sheet so power emerges exactly under the monitor arm mount point.

Seasonal gear rotation

Copenhagen cyclists store tyres and panniers that rarely fit standard office furniture. Lower lockers with ventilated doors hold sports gear while upper cabinets stay dry for paper and electronics.

We label each bay on the elevation drawing so household members know where off-season items land without reshuffling the whole wall each spring.
