Neighborly Works Studio

Home office planning for Copenhagen apartments

Studio rooted on Vesterbrogade

Neighborly Works Studio opened in 2019 when Mads Eller and Signe Krogh merged their freelance space-planning practices. Both had spent years fitting desks into pre-war courtyards and 1960s tower flats where every centimetre counted and landlords scrutinised wall fixings.

We work exclusively on residential workspaces — not full interior renovations, not corporate fit-outs. That focus lets us stay precise about Danish rental norms, noise between neighbours, and the way Copenhagen families actually use living rooms after 17:00.

How we think about apartment work

Copenhagen apartments rarely offer a spare room. We treat the home office as furniture choreography: sight lines to windows, distance from kitchen noise, and paths that do not cross the sofa during video calls. Plans stay reversible because most clients rent.

We document everything in millimetres and note which walls are load-bearing versus partition. That saves joiners time and keeps handymen from guessing after we leave the site.

Team

Mads Eller — Layout lead

Former architectural drafter specialising in narrow floor plates and radiator-adjacent desks. Handles on-site measurement across København V and Frederiksberg.

Signe Krogh — Storage & routing

Joinery background applied to modular storage walls and concealed cable paths. Leads Nørrebro and Nordvest commissions with heavy shelving demands.

Local partnerships

We coordinate with two Vesterbro carpentry shops and an electrician collective in Valby for installs we specify but do not perform ourselves. Clients receive named contacts and scope notes so trades arrive with the right fixings.

We do not take referral fees. Recommendations follow what the layout requires, not margin on materials.
